Rajkot (Gujarat), Dec.15 (ANI): Devotees in Gujarat's Rajkot city are offering woollen apparels to idols of deities as the region witnessed drastic dip in temperatures.
Devotees offered shawls, sweater, scarves, mufflers and caps in various temples such as famous Balaji temple, Ram temple, and Sankalpsiddh Hanuman temple.
Bhavanishankar Trivedi, priest of the Ram temple, said just like devotees offer prayers on different festivals to the gods, making such offerings for winter clothing is no different.
"This temple believes in the tradition to treat the deities as living beings just like normal human beings. So, as humans wear woollens in winters, we offer the same for the deities in the temple," said Trivedi.
Vina, a devotee, said such offerings come as a mark of respect and care.
"We believe that the change in seasons is all in the hands of Almighty and he doesn't feel cold, but still we show our affection by offering him woollens, and try to guard him against chilly weather like we do for ourselves," said Vina. By Parish Joshi (ANI)
