Salgaocar rallies thrice to hold JCT

Jan 04:  Salgaocar after dominating the major part of the game rallied thrice to hold JCT to an exciting 3-3 draw in the 9th round of the ONGC I-League match played at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, here on Thursday.

In a fast-paced match where fortunes swung either sides, JCT got into lead in the 10th minute through Brazilian Eduardo Da Silva's penalty conversion while Nigerian Felix Chimaokwu got the equaliser in the 40th minute to level the scores at 1-1 at half time.

On changing the ends, JCT once again led through Brazilian Mulato Marcos Perera in the 50th minute making it to 2-1, only to find Salgaocar equalizing again nine minutes later through Joe Rodrigues (2-2).

JCT earned their third goal through Anwar Ali in the 63rd minute (3-2), but Nicholas Rodrigues restored parity in the 67th minute to hold JCT for a 3-3 draw.

Salgaocar messed a sitter in the final stages through Milagres Gonsalves after restoring parity thrice in the match. Salgaocar's Medio Rocus lamare was declared the man of the match.

JCT reached the top spot with 19 points posting five wins and four draws and remained unbeaten in the first phase. Salgaocar has 4 points and remained dangerously placed in the relegation zone, as they are yet to earn a victory in the I-league.
