Jan 04: India tennis sensation Sania Mirza landed herself in a latest controversy, but this time a serious one, as she has been sued alongwith Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mani Shankar Aiyar in a court here for allegedly showing disrespect to the national flag of the country.
This is a fresh trouble for Sania in a fortnight after getting a respite from the Mecca Masjid controversy few days back where she had to apologise for shooting a commercial inside the Masjid premises.
According to petitioner, Sania, who is presently representing India at the Hopman Cup in Australia , has been caught on camera watching a match while putting her feet right in front of the national flag of India.
The petitioner said he had made Sports minister Aiyar as parties to the complaint because he is the Sports Minister of the country and he should also be asked to deal with such types of matters as the number of incidents of insult to the national flag are rising.
Sania was so much involved in watching the match that she forgot where her feet were. The case filed in the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insult to the National Honour Act of 1971 by a local resident Prakash Kumar Thakur.
The next date of the hearing of the case has been fixed on Monday January 7.

What a jerk who filed the case? How can the NI journo mention it as a serious case? Isnt it a clear case of cheap puclicity? Has your journo seen the photograph, to me it looked like a crude camera trick. The shot was taken at such an angle that her feet looked like facing the tricolor. The case filled up some vaccum space in your columns and the petitioner's quest for publicity.
