Jan 03: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has finalised the venues for the upcoming Test series against South Africa at home. Proteas will play their three Tests in Ahmedabad, Kanpur and Chennai on their tour to India in March and April.
South Africa will arrive in India after playing two Tests and a triangular series - also featuring India - in Bangladesh in February-March. Last time India won the two matches Test series 1-0 against the Proteas when both the nations played the Test series in India.
Kanpur's Green Park stadium, which has not hosted a Test match for more than three years, will be the venue of one of India's three Tests against South Africa in the home series scheduled from March 16, the BCCI announced Wednesday.
The last Test held at Green Park was in November 2004 when it hosted Australia. But the venue did not get another chance due to a dispute with the state government.
Meanwhile, BCCI also announced that Mohali would host one of the four home Tests against Australia in October-November, with Bangalore, Delhi and Nagpur being the other venues.
"The exact schedule will be finalised based on the logistics," the statement added.
