Karachi, Dec 4(ANI): The Maritime Security Agency (MSA) of Pakistan has detained five Indian fishermen for fishing 36 nautical miles inside Pakistani territorial waters.
The MSA also seized their fishing vessel, and handed over the arrested men to the Docks police station, the Daily Times reports.
Docks SHO Nawaz Gondal said the police had registered an FIR (407/10) against them under the Foreign Act and Fishery Act.
There have been numerous incidents of Indian fishermen been arrested by the Pakistani maritime force for violating the maritime boundary between the two countries.
In this regard, Sayyad Iqbal Haider, a senior advocate of the Supreme Court, had pleaded to the apex court in September to pass a ruling that once an Indian fisherman completes his sentence for illegally crossing into the country, the Pakistani authorities must repatriate him. (ANI)
