Bangalore, Nov.21 (ANI): The much-awaited election of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) began here on Sunday.
Among the candidates for the President's post are former Indian cricket captain Anil Kumble and the present incumbent, Srikantadatta Narsimharaja Wadiyar, the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore.
Other leading former cricketers also contested the polls for various posts, including bowlers Javagal Srinath for Secretary and Venkatesh Prasad for one of the three vice-president's posts.
Industrialist Vijay Mallya, a member of the KSCA Managing Committee and owner of the Royal Challengers team in the Indian Premier League, has come out in a support of Kumble's candidature. In the previous election, Mallya had supported Wadiyar.
Earlier, KSCA Secretary Brijesh Patel confirmed that he would not contest the election, and came out in support of the team of Kumble, Srinath and Prasad.
The total numbers of voters are 1480.
Wadiyar had defeated former batsman Gundappa Vishwanath in the last KSCA elections three years ago.
