Indian eves for Oz tour

Dec 30:  To provide a much-needed thrust to their Olympic qualifying campaign, the Indian Women’s Hockey Team will be embarking on the tour of Canberra, Australia early next year for training-cum-practice matches.

According to Indian Women’s Hockey Federation, Hon. Secretary Amrit Bose, the ten-days long visit of 25-member contingent to down under, is for the essential preparation ahead of crucial March-April Olympic qualifiers.

The women hockey players will be playing a total of eight matches from January 8-19, 2008. Apart from exchanging encounters with the Australia bound women’s teams, the Indian squad will also test their skills by fighting it out with the Australian Capital Territory Men’s team.
