Leh, Nov 12 (ANI): The orientation workshop for the newly elected Councillors of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) ended here yesterday.
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) organized this workshop.
TISS Project Director Sonam Jorgais said that several important issues were taken up during the two-day workshop.
"We took up district budget. How is it planned, where does the money come from? We get a lot of sponsor schemes, how do we get that money. What are the schemes? These are the things basically which we discussed in the two-day workshop," Jorgais added.
Jorgais said that five years back, there was a document titled "Understanding Ladakh 2025-Vision Documents".
"There is an urgent need of informing the Councillors about the document, Jorgais added.
This documents was based on 13 important chapters covering every vital sector has a vision to develop Ladakh as the best model district in terms of hill area development.
Meanwhile, the Councillors also found it to be very productive and informative.
"I think that the workshop was quiet productive and informative, especially for the new councillors, as there are many things we need to know to work for a council. If we take district plan as an example, we need to understand that as well. If you do not understand this thing, then you will face problems during working as a councilor, as there would be a need to go to various departments and ask everything," said Tsewang Rigzen, a Councillor.
