Need of a winning and not a competing approach

Dec 25:  Time has come for India to implement all strategies into action for the upcoming series commencing at the Boxing Day of the Melbourne Test.

With an excellent combination of young and experienced Team India is all set to begin its clash against Australia making it one of the challenging series. Both considered as the mightiest cricket teams with some of the world’s best players but this time India would like to beat the record of not defeating Australia in Test Series in its home ground.

Though Australia is far ahead in its recent test record but this series is certainly going to be different with some awesome cricketers especially the big five Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid who are supposed to be in their last tour to Australia considering their age. In addition a bunch of promising talented young players and some of them in their best of forms especially Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni can add a lot of strength in the already considered long batting line-up.

No doubt India has one of the best batting line-up though on paper but a little more confident approach in the pace and bounce track of Australia can make huge difference, but one should not forget that India among few of the teams who had beaten Australia in home and abroad.

As far as team composition is concerned what we need to place is a balanced combination of batsman and bowlers keeping the best option open in spin bowling as both Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh are at peak of their performance in the last series against Pakistan can worry the Aussies batting line-up who are not so well against spin bowling attack.

In absence of the veteran Glen McGrath and Shane Warne, Indian pace bowling can be equated at par the Australian side even though comprising experienced Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson. The newcomer Ishant Sharma can have a best chance to show his skills along with the experienced Zaheer Khan and Irfan Phatan on Indian side. However, Shaun Tait can be a surprise package though India has got good experience to bat against them.

No matter what the pitch condition, India has to adopt a winning approach with a solid frontline batting, formidable fielding and an attacking bowling with both the spinners in operation; only then India can beat Australia in Australia.

All along India needs to take the series in Australian point of views in terms of their weakness and strength and not what we are good at. India needs to hit an Australian side and not an Indian side. While both team consists of world-class batsmen, only an aggressive attitude makes the difference; Australian love to go after any bowling attack and hence Indian bowlers needs to stick to the best line and length and let the batsmen do the mistake.

Meanwhile, on the Boxing Day Test, the Melbourne Cricket Club expects a packed house of a capacity of 75,000 crowds in the first day. With four Test matches on card, this month long cricket carnival between two of the world’s best team is certainly going to be the exciting one.
