Patnitop (J-K), Sept 16 (ANI): Scores of devotees thronged the Baba Gawah Naag Temple in Patnitop in Jammu to take part in an annual festival, which they believe will fulfill all their wishes.

The temple, where the presiding deity is a serpent, is thronged by the devotees from across the country in large numbers with the belief that all their wishes would be granted.

According to the residents, the temple situated at a height, and with serpents engraved on its walls, is around 700 years old and the tradition of holding the festival has been going on since then.

"It is our tradition and we have been coming here for years. It is our belief that whatever one desires here, is fulfilled by the deity," said Rakesh Singh, a devotee.

The devotees come here again after their wishes are fulfilled and offer prayers to the deity.

It is also a custom at Baba Gawah Naag Temple to sacrifice animals once a devotees' wish is fulfilled.

Entry of women inside the temple is restricted. (ANI)
