Chennai, July 18 (ANI): Former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has urged youngsters to be aware of water conservation techniques to avoid grave water crisis in future.

Kalam said this while addressing the inaugural function of Exposition on Water Conservation held in Coimbatore on Saturday.

He cautioned that the society may become a victim if tussle among states and nations on water sharing crops up.

"In quest of water, there may arise differences among the neighbouring nations such as Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Pakistan; hence we need to create awareness among the youngsters on the need to conserve water," Kalam said.

Kalam also said that unless the country's and its citizens learns about water's judicious use, we will be in for more problems.

"It is so sad that today, people are forced to buy water in plastic bottles. I am told that bottled water industry is worth nearly 10000 crore rupees and even big companies like the Coke and Pepsi are involved in this bottling of water and making money. So, it is imperative that we ought to save water," he added. (ANI)
