Kaithal (Haryana), July 10 (ANI): Distressful villagers in Haryana's flood affected Kaithal District have complained about official apathy in dealing with their woes.
"No facility has been provided by the government authorities yet. Whatever facility we have got, is an effort made by private firms, government has done nothing for the survival of the victims," said a villager.
"The authorities are not taking any responsibility about our survival. Social workers are providing food and other essentials to us. The authorities are just ignoring their duties," said another villager.
The districts of Ambala, Kurukshetra and Kaithal are said to be among the worst affected.
Media reports suggest that the state has incurred losses to the tune of almost 6.5 billion rupees, including damage to crops, property and roads.
Waters of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal have also overflowed and submerged many villages in surrounding areas. (ANI)
