Chandigarh, July 9 (ANI): Floods in Haryana and Punjab have claimed 15 lives, and left with hundreds of acres of land inundated.
The Ambala and Kurukshetra districts of Haryana are the worst affected. There are reports of breaches in the Ghaggar and Tangri rivers and in the Satluj- Yamuna- Link canal.
Consequent to the heavy downpour, which inundated several parts of Haryana, local residents are upset about the administration providing them with adequate rescue and relief.
Residents of Kurukshetra have complained of not receiving any assistance from the district asministration.
"The water level has decreased a bit but we have not received any support from the administration. We had requested some boatmen to stay, so that in case of emergency the boats could be used," said Ramesh Sharma, a resident of Kurukshetra.
Meanwhile, Shanno, a resident in the Kaithali region of Haryana, also complained about a lack of facilities and said that there was no one to even ask about their whereabouts.
"We are hungry since yesterday. We should get food and water. We live in weakly built houses. No one has come here to take note of the situation," said Shanno.(ANI)
