Kanpur, July 3 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a demonstration against price rise here on Saturday, as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited Kanpur city today.
The party workers marched on the roads shouting anti-UPA government slogans while carrying black flags.
"Manmohan Singh is a remote prime minister under Sonia Gandhi. Congress doesn't have an elected leader. A leader who doesn't feel the pain of a common man cannot work for the good of a common man. Common man is badly affected due to price rise. We don't get food to eat. Flour, pulses, rice, sugar and even the salt is very costly. By increasing the price of basic commodities the government is fuelling the public ire," said Satish Mahana, President of BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit.
The protestors accused the PM of pushing the common man, farmers and labourers to a very difficult situation by increasing the prices of basic commodities as well as petrol, diesel, kerosene and LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas).
PM attended the Convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology and address the Merchants Chamber of Uttar Pradesh in Kanpur today. (ANI)
