Nov 28: Indian top businesspersons have again achieved another honour in global business by getting placed in the list of “Fortune’s 25 Most Powerful Businesspeople in the World”. Fortune has included India’s frontrunner corporate leader Ratan Tata along with two NRIs L N Mittal and Indra Nooyi in its latest list released on Tuesday.
World famous business magazine ‘Fortune’ has published a fresh list of ‘25 Most Powerful Businesspeople’ on Tuesday after another esteemed global business magazine ‘Forbes’ that had also released the list of world’s top entrepreneurs earlier this month publishing very closely names.
Fortune has honoured Ratan Tata, the head of Tata group, which has been respected as India’s most prominent business family since its origin by giving him 23 rd position in the list, while his name was disappeared in the Forbes’ list. Forbes named Mukesh Ambani, India’s top business leader in the world’s richest person. But his name is missing in the Fortune’s list.
Besides Ratan Tata, two other Indians are in the list; Indian steelman and major shareholder of ArcelorMittal, the head of steel-making company Lakshmi Niwas Mittal and PepsiCo. Chief Indra Nooyi. Though both the nominees are non-resident Indian, yet their origins belong to India.
L N Mittal is overall top ranked Indian, who sealed 14 th position in the list, while PepsiCo. Chief Nooyi has secured 22 nd position, one position ahead to Rantan Tata. She is also on the top in a separate Fortune list of world's most powerful businesswomen consecutively for the second time.
Apple’s Chairman and CEO - Steve Jobs has top the list, while News Corp. Chief Rupert Murdock has cemented the second position. Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein ranked third in the list whereas Google’s founder and CEO trio Eric Schmidt, Larry Page and Sergei Brin have jointly marked the forth position.
Microsoft Corp. founder and chief of Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, Bill Gates is now on the seventh position, who has been top the list several times earlier. On the other hand, his strong contestant and USA’s top investor Warren Buffett has surpassed Bill Gates and ranked 5 th in the list. Warren is also the chief of Berkshire Hathaway and had announced to donate his 80% assets to Bill and Melinda Gates foundation that works for the AIDS patients.
Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson (6 th), General Electric Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt (8 th), Toyota President Katsuaki Watanabe (9th) and Proctor&Gamble CEO A G Lafley (10th) are among the top 10.
JPMorgan Chase, Hewlett-Packard, Boeing, BHP Billiton, Blackstone and Mexican business tycoon Carlos Slim are also among the top 25 list.
