Patna, June 13 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party leader Giriraj Singh on Sunday hit out at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by saying the BJP's tie-up with the Janata Dal (United) party was not a compulsion.
"The compulsion of BJP is not power (government), the compulsion of BJP is not Nitish Kumar. My compulsion is nine crore (90 million) people of Bihar. In 1990, we had promised that we will relieve the people of Bihar from misgovernance and we relieved the people of Bihar by making every sacrifice," said Giriraj Singh, here.
The BJP's general secretary for Bihar stated that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had insulted the BJP by reacting so harshly to a photo of Nitish Kumar and Modi holding hands and waving to supporters during a political rally two years ago.
"This not a big deal. This photograph of both has been published months back. He (Nitish Kumar) is angry over the publication of Ludhiana picture where both of them are holding hands. Once it has been published, it becomes public property. Then there is no need to take permission. He knows that Narendra Modi is a leader of BJP," Giriraj Singh further said.
On Saturday, Nitish Kumar snubbed the BJP top leaders by cancelling a dinner with them.
Bihar goes to provincial polls later this year.
Last year, Kumar had turned down an offer by Modi to canvass in Bihar during the national elections . It was felt he turn down the offer as it might have annoyed minority Muslim voters. (ANI)
