Dharamshala, June 8 (ANI): The Tibetan Women's Association (TWA) organised an eleven-day advanced leadership-training programme for young Tibetan women, starting from Monday.
Professional and experienced speakers from the Tibetan community in exile would give training to young women in Dharamshala.
The motive of the programme is to increase women's representation in the higher ranks of governance.
"I think, there is a great need because younger people should take more responsibility, and I know there are hundreds of young people who really want to do something for the country and for their community," said Rinchen Khando, founder member of the TWA.
"Our focus is like, you know, especially because when you look down at city, there are equal number of women working down there, but then if you go deep into it, then you'll see, you know, only three percent of women up at the higher level position. So, we really wish to encourage and empower our women to be able to take higher post, higher position," said Nyima Lahm, the programme coordinator.
Thirty professional Tibetan women from all over India participated in the first of its kind training programme.
TWA is a women's association based in McLeodganj. (ANI)
