Nov 26: A mild earthquake of 4.3 magnitude rattled Delhi and NCR (National Capital Region) early in the morning on Monday. No damage to life and property has been reported so far from the torment region.
Monday morning began with a harrowing awakening for Delhites and NCR residents as a major earthquake trembled the national capital of India and adjoining cities of surrounding states. As per Indian Meteorological Department, “it was a strong tremor with an intensity of 4.3 multitudes on the Richter scale”
The tremors came at 4:43 am Indian Standard time when most of the Delhites were in the sweet dream on their bed. “Suddenly the earth begins to tremble and people of the society rushed towards the ground and plane area”, said an eyewitness. “Though it was only 10 seconds of rocking, but most of us frightened, for recalling the previous tremors held in Gujarat and Kashmir few years ago”, said today’s tremor victims.
No immediate reports of causalities have been come so far from the shaken areas.
The epicenter of the tremor was at the Delhi-Haryana border at 28.6 N latitude and 77.9 E longitudes exactly centered around 10 kms from Bahadurgarh in Haryana as per Met office informed. “Today’s quake was due to the re-alignment of the Sohana tectonic plate fault line that has been in the past lead to mild tremors in the region”, said office.
The last quake that hit Sohana tectonic plate came in October 2005. The national capital had been the victim of high-intensity quake when tremor hit Muzzafarabad ( Pakistan owned Kashmir) on October 08, 2005.
Delhi exists on the 2 nd most sensitive seismic zone as per geographical structure followed Himalayan belt. It charted on in Zone 4 of an earthquake danger chart out zone 5. Zone 5 is the most chronic to quakes.
The shockwaves of tremor was felt in surrounding areas such as Noida (UP), Faridabad and Gurgaon (both in Haryana) and far behind Meerut.

Delhi experienced in the past sevre tremors and also shaken by last Kashmir quake. Due to eurasian plate collision impact movement along Himalayas may be assumed as one reason.
