Assar (Doda), April 20 (ANI): A major tragedy was averted on Tuesday afternoon when security forces defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by suspected militants near village Assar on Batote- Kishtawar road in Jammu and Kashmir, about 145 kilometres from Jammu.
Road Opening Party of the Army detected an IED weighing a five kg at 6 a.m., planted on the retaining wall of the road at Assar, on Batote-Doda road.
The traffic plying the road was immediately stopped from both sides till a special team of bomb disposal squad defused it at 2pm. The traffic on the Doda -Batote highway was kept suspended for seven hours.
Security forces cordoned off nearby areas to nab the ultras, if any. However, no one has been arrested so far.
The device that was planted along side of the road was later defused without causing any harm to anyone. By Tahir Nadeem Khan (ANI)
