Rajkot (Gujarat), Apr 10 (ANI): The mango crop growers in Rajkot here are expecting bumper yield and better profits this year.
The mango growers are expecting a bumper mango crop this summer in comparison to the last year, when the poor flowering of mango trees had reduced the fruit crop in the state.he bad weather had spoiled the mango crop last year, thereby making the fruit very expensive for ordinary people.
Kumar Kami, a mango grower said that they are expecting better profits this year in comparison to last year
"As compared to last year there is an increase of 50 percent in the production. Last year the crops were not good due to non-favourable climate, but this year it is very good. As compared to last year, we are also expecting better prices this year," said Kami.
The flowering season of mango trees is at its peak and, according to horticulturists; the mango trees in the state have flowered satisfactorily.
In fact, the flowering has been so timely that nearly 80 percent of the crop has already started budding.
Another mango grower Hazi Mayudi said that this time the mango crops are ready much earlier.
"This year the crops are double and better. They are supplied to whole of Gujarat and all across India. The production has been good and we will get better prices," said Mayudi.
"Normally it starts in the month of May, but this time it has begun in April and even the quantity is double," he added.
The mango growers, however, said that the first two weeks will be very crucial for the crops, asserting that if the weather does not deteriorate, the crops will be in abundance this year at affordable prices. (ANI)
