Allahabad, Jan. 29 (ANI): A group of Muslims in Allahabad are spreading the message of communal harmony by reciting Sanskrit shlokas and singing Hindu bhajans.
The Muslims in this unique group are comfortable singing bhajans (hymns) and chanting shlokas from the Hindu scriptural book - Ramcharitmanas (The Acts of Lord Rama).
"We all participate in each others festivals. There is no difference, we live with them and they live with us. Our religion says that we should live together with them. There is only one truth in life. In case if you find a pearl in mud, there is nothing wrong in picking it; if the Ramayana has some good knowledge, tell me what is wrong in adopting it? I like this place, which is called Sangam - it's a place where hearts meet," said Sikander, a Muslim member of the group.
Mohammad Islam, another Muslim member of the group says that both religions believe in one God and everybody should follow it.None of the Muslims have questioned me ever about why we do this. I am waiting if someone asks, I am ready to answer. It's like a crossroads where everybody has to go. The Lord is one whether call him Ram or Raheem, we believe in all of them," said Islam.
This step of promoting harmony between the two communities has been widely appreciated by other locals as well. (ANI)
