Etawah, Jan.7 (ANI): Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has confirmed differences existing between Amar Singh and Ram Gopal Yadav, the two senior leaders of his party.
The in-fight exiting between the two General Secretaries became public on Wednesday after Amar Singh sent his resignation from all party posts, citing 'health' as the reason.
Reacting to Amar Singh's step of quitting all posts that he held in the party, Mulayam Singh Yadav clarified that differences existed between him and Ram Gopal Yadav.
"If he has said differences are there and has even written a letter, there must be some problem for sure. But as I have told you, he should have said everything keeping in mind the party's discipline," said Mulayam Singh to media.
But Yadav was quick to add that Amar Singh just resigned from party posts but not from the party.
"He has resigned from his post and not the party. He told me his problems to which I have no solutions. Our responsibility is to help the public and stay with them," said Mulayam Singh in Etawah.
It may be recalled that on January 06, citing health reasons Amar Singh who was a top functionary of the party and also the General Secretary tendered his resignation from all posts. Singh had undergone a kidney transplant three months ago.
It is well-known that differences exist between Amar Singh and Ram Gopal Yadav, who is o a General Secretary and brother of the party chief Mulayam.
Amar Singh faxed his resignation from Dubai to the party headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Earlier, there had been media reports suggesting a rift between Yadav and Singh after the party's poor show in its stronghold of Uttar Pradesh state, winning just 20 seats out of 80, in the last general elections.(ANI)
