“The face of the pharaoh will be open for the public first time”, said Dr. Zahi before the selective media persons in Luxor. The introductory tickets for viewing the mysterious mummy will be 80 Egyptian pounds (about 15 U.S. dollars), but can be raised for the new display according to official sources. It is expected that this exhibition can attract huge crowd of the tourists around the globe.
Till now Tutankhamun has been like the most mysteriously dead personality in the world for the general public. Only 50 living people in the globe have seen the revealed body of the secret pharaoh, though his body has been already uncovered four times before.
Earlier on Sunday morning a group of leading archaeologist around the globe headed by Egyptian chief archaeologist Dr Zahi Hawass decided to reopen the coffin of the famous pharaoh who had become the emperor of the Egypt only at the age of nine and died on only at the age of nineteen years old as the historian believes. The facts behind his dead are still under controversy because of several opinions given by the historian and theorists.
The Egyptian chief archaeologist became ready to uncover the sarcophagus as it is estimated that the body of the pharaoh is gradually deteriorating because of moister that comes from the breathing of the tourists who visit to see him.
As much as 20 grams of water executes everyday in the underground chambers from breathing vapour and when it evaporates, it converts into salt crystals that erode the tombs and all that lies within. It has always been one of the most centre of attraction for the visitors from the millennium.
For revealing the body of the king, the archaeological team went deep underground chamber that was especially designed for exposing the mummy. It was completely saved from moister, humidity and anything that can harm the body. The chamber was hieroglyphics painted onto an ochre-coloured wall with a low roof.
The golden coffin was carefully opened and the mummy was laid onto a wooden stretcher. The 11 kg heavy mask made of pure gold and diamond was removed slowly and later the whole body was uncovered. But most part of the body was damaged as according to Zahi Hawass, the body were being damaged by a British archaeologist Howard Carter who had used sharp tools to open the body that reached the 18 cuts on the body; only face and legs are still safe as Zahi told to the reporters.
“Only the good part of the mummy will be shown to the public”, said Hawass. The remaining part of the body will be covered. The whole body seems blackened.
“The face of the 19 years old emperor was beautiful. The most important thing is that from today the mummy will be completely saved from moisture, from humidity, from anything, and we can say that the mummy is going to be safe as we’ll try to make it safely”, added Zahi.
From Sunday his body has been put into a specially-designed climate-controlled case.
From several centuries, Tutankhamun has been centre of attraction and unsolved mystery for the public in the entire world. There are several myths and facts about him. It is said that he got the royal crown only at the age of nine but he died soon and could rule on his kingdom for only 10 years. He had died in a mysterious condition at the age of 19.
Some historian believes that he was shot dead by an arrow. An arrow entered in his neck while he was in the battlefield. On the other hand some believes that he was dead because of fire, that’s why his body was look like burnt body.
Some historian, believe that his left thigh was wounded and got gangrene that became the reason of his death.
For detecting the gangrene, a CT scan went on the leg of the mummy, but the report is still unknown. The body was reconstructed in 2005 when it was used for CT Scan.
It is also famous about this body that those who try to reopen the body will die premature. Some cases includes the British Archaeologist Howard Carter enforces this myth. But most experts do not believe in this superstition.
"When anyone will do anything with the mummy, they talk about the curse all the time," said Egyptian antiquities chief Hawass, who added that he does not subscribe to such mysticism.
