Islamabad, Dec.1 (ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has no plans to re-promulgate the controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), which expired on November 28, Zardari's spokesperson Farhatullah Babar has said.
Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said the final decision over the issue would be taken by the court of law, and the government would accept whatever decision it takes.
Kaira highlighted that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), during former President General Pervez Musharraf's regime, had demanded the return of the exiled leaders and for lifting of the ban on a person becoming prime minister for the third time.
"Musharraf consulted Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain who advised the former to approve the NRO, instead of waiving the ban on third time premiership," The Dawn quoted Kaira, as saying.
He said Balochistan and North West Frontier Province's (NWFP) worsening conditions had forced Musharraf to negotiate with the exiled leaders and go ahead with the NRO. (ANI)
