Jaipur, Nov 7 (ANI): Around 150 jewellery units, which are functioning in Sitapura industrial area of Jaipur have incurred huge losses due to the major oil depot fire in the region recently.
The affected jewellery units in the area include diamond factories and gold and silver manufacturing units.
While criticizing government's Industrial policy, manufacturers claim that they have faced losses of around Rs. 400 crore.
"The direct losses are estimated up to 400 crores and indirect losses we'll come to know in the following years, over a period of time.
" Industry owners might shift from the area as they feel that Government's industrial policy is not good and there is no safety here, " said Arun Dhaddha, Jewellery Manufacturer.
Also, Jewellery manufacturers fear that if their work is not resumed at the earliest they might loose their orders.
"We are facing loss of around 400 Crores. Besides that, we will not be able to fulfill the orders that we have with us. Factories will remain closed and no work will be done for next 10 to 15 days. In addition, workers will not be able to come. Many orders are already canceled. There are also chances that our orders can go to other countries like china," said Siddharth Mehta, Secretary, Sitapura Gems And Jewellery Industry Association.
The major fire that broke out on October 29 has damaged an adjacent factory manufacturing electronic meters.
Two villages near the depot were evacuated and power was cut off across the region as a precaution. (ANI)
