Goa considering banning Sanatana Sanstha, says CM Kamath

Panjim / Mumbai, Oct 19 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamath hinted here on Monday that his government is considering banning the Sanatana Sanstha, a right wing organization which suspected of having a hand in an explosion in South Goa on Friday night.

Kamath revealed this while speaking to a private news channel.

Earlier in the day, State Home Minister Ravi Naik informed the media that the state police would also probe the links of state Transport Minister's wife with the Sanstha.

"We are probing everyone. We know that Jyoti Dhavalikar is a part of the institution although we do not know in which capacity. I have asked police to enquire," Naik said.

However, Transport Minister Ramakanth Dhavalikar admitted that his wife Jyoti is a member of the Sanstha but clarified that she does not hold any position in it.

"My wife has been involved with Sanstha activities for over a decade, primarily meditation activities. She does not hold any post within the Sanstha, and is a volunteer there," Dhavalikar, said.

On Sunday, Goa police formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe a low-intensity blast in Marmagao, which killed two activists of the Sanstha.

Meanwhile, in Mumbai, refuting the charges of involvement in the Friday's blast a representative of the Sanstha Shambhu Gaware alleged that Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik is falsely implicating the outfit to hide his failure.

"Naik's remarks that police are probing our foreign links is ridiculous. It is indeed a big defeat of Goa government that they are still unable to find real culprits. Naik is making the allegations just to hide his failure," Gaware said.

Commenting on reports of police finding some objectionable things from Sanstha's Ramnathi Ashram, Gaware said: "nothing has been recovered from the ashram."

He also denied the arrest of any member of the Sanstha for their alleged involvement in the blast. (ANI)
