Verna/ Panaji (Goa) Oct 15 (ANI): The discovery of more bodies of women at different locations in the coastal resort Goa has baffled the police.
During the last three days, ten people, including six women and two children, were found dead in mysterious circumstances.
The police have identified the body of a 16-year-old girl found burnt at an isolated spot at Verna. The girl was reported missing since Sunday.
A couple were found drowned the next day in capital Panaji.
A V Deshpande, Superintendent of Police, on Wednesday said the only common thing is that all the women were burnt.
"Two have been identified and they are absolutely not connected with each other and the other two are yet to be identified. The only commonality is that attempt has been made in three cases to destroy the bodies by igniting them. Post-mortem reports are yet to be recovered in all these cases," said Deshpande.
"As of now all the bodies do not appear to be linked. The fifth and sixth body of the drowned cases found in Panjim (Panaji) do not seem to be linked as well. We cannot rule out serial killing, (but) I would not find it appropriate to report them as serial killing," he added.
Crimes against women in Goa the spotlight in the last couple of years, with the murder of British teenager Scarlett Keeling and Russian teenager Elena Sukhonova earlier this year. (ANI)
