Oct 29 : First Lady Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner from ruling Victory Front Party is set to take the gearshift as Argentina's President. She will be the fifth women leader in Latin America, and first in the history of Argentina to enter the Pink house the Presidential Palace, where she was residing since four years with her husband President Nestor Kirchner.

She won the election with over 45% vote in the general election of Argentina on Sunday.

Even before this the early exit polls flashed Christina’s name and declared clear victory to the nation’s first lady.

Thousands of supporters gathered outside the Buenos Aires hotel where she delivered her first victory speech, amidst the crowds cheering and chanting her name.

Fernandez de Kirchner in a confident voice said to the crowd "a triumph for all Argentines" and thanked supporters for assigning her with the "major responsibility" of the presidency.

Her precious thanks came for her husband, President Nestor Kirchner, who is expected to switch roles and become the leading adviser to his wife once she takes office; interestingly the same role was played by Christina when Nestor was president.

During the campaigning days she promised to continue Nestor’s economic policies, it is believed that Nestor revived the economy when he became the President at the time when Argentina was going through a financial crisis.

But a shade of controversies touched the winning moment when the opposition alleged that seven parties had filed a complaint alleging that ballots were missing or stolen in Buenos Aires province, which was denied by the Electoral officials.

Though she would be Argentina’s second female president after Isabel Peron wife of Juan Peron who was not elected, she ruled for mere 20 months and was ousted in a military coup.

But making the mark with such victory and also by registering as the first lady to be elected as the President of Argentina does not end the road here in fact it will be full of challenges ahead, to mark the new beginning she will have to be ready to face challenges including high inflation, energy scarcity and the crime that has left the whole Argentina at the verge of sinking.
