Shimla, Oct. 7 (ANI): Russian folk culture came alive at a music concert in Shimla was organized by the Language and Culture department of the Himachal Pradesh Government.
Russian folk dancers and singers performed in the historic Gaiety Theatre.
Prem Sharma, Director, Department of Language and Culture Himachal Pradesh said that the main aim of this exercise was to spread the fragrance of Russian culture in the state.
"The Department of Language and Culture (Himachal Pradesh) had planned that not only in Kullu Dussehra(Hindu festival) but all over the state we must spread the fragrance of Russian culture. In that series we organised this programme," said Sharma.
Meanwhile Yulia Barkova, a Russian singer and the artist said that Russians and Indians had a lot in common.
"I really believe that Russia and India have a lot in common and the Russian people have deep love in their hearts for the Indians and there are many things we have in common which will come through these programmes," said Barkova.
Hundreds of people from across the state enjoyed the Russian traditional instruments, dances and songs, showcased in this concert. (ANI)
