Srinagar, Sat, 03 Oct 2009 ANI

Srinagar, Oct 3 (ANI): Curfew was imposed in Baramulla town in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday following the death of a 13-year-old boy in clashes that erupted after Friday prayers.

According to police, a tense situation prevailed in the town even on Saturday morning.

A 13-year-old boy was injured when police fired a teargas shell to control the mob, which was protesting against the continued house arrest of hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

The injured boy, identified as Irfan Ahmad Lone, later died in a hospital on Friday.

Hundreds of peoples joined for the funeral procession of Irfan on late Friday shouting anti establishment slogans.

To maintain the law and order in the town the administration has moved in heavy police and paramilitary reinforcements into Baramulla on early hours of Saturday.

The administration has also enforced restrictions in adjoining Sopore town, which also witnessed protests after Friday prayers. (ANI)
