Rampur (Jharkhand), Sep 2 (ANI): An unruly mob of over 500 villagers on Tuesday lynched a man accused of killing a teenage boy in Jharkhand's Rampur village.
In Rampur village, about seven kilometres from Dumka, a youth named Bhupendar Mahato, alias Chotu, was shot with a country made pistol allegedly by Surjit Mehta.
According to eyewitnesses Mehta tried to escape but was overpowered by villagers who lynched him with stones, bricks and batons.
Police reinforcements arrived later but Mehta succumbed to injuries.
Chotu, who was shot dead, was a resident of Durgapur village of the district and used to come to Rampur village to meet his maternal aunt.
The motive behind the shooting was not yet known, as per police. (ANI)
