Oct 18: The IBSA Dialogue Forum that constitutes three leading developing countries: India, Brazil and South Africa have vowed to push forward the trade deal between them. Leaders of the countries in the second IBSA summit held in Pretoria, South Africa, pressed for more business links between stakeholders and exceed the set target of 15 billion dollar by 2010.
Top leaders of three countries including Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, South Africa President Thabo Mbeki and Brazil's President Lula da Silva discussed a range of issues apart from the usual political co-operation. Several rounds of discussions led emphasis on the enhancement of trade relations and developing a better coordination and promotion of various common causes of developing countries.
The three leaders of the countries signed various agreement on cooperation in health, cultural exchange, education, defence, social development along with global issues like human settlement development and environmental and climate change.
In the process of developing a better cooperation between developing countries the forum has so far constantly addressing issues which hold a great part of promoting overall development but at the same time in accordance to WTO and Doha Development Round which support reducing trade barriers that hold-up mutual trade.
Considering the size of economy, growth rate with integration of diversities it is central for the powers to work together in terms of using natural resources, human capital, addressing a sense of social equity along with all other prime global issues and in the end build up a better platform to represent the interest of all developing or less developing countries in the world stage.
Again this is the objective that India, Brazil and South Africa are in favour of the expansion of UN Security Council membership which can represent world as a whole and not the interest of few countries.
The IBSA Dialogue Forum has so far the best stand that represents a greater cooperation and development between three developing countries in three different continents of Asia, South America and Africa. IBSA has also unveiled a proposal to raise fund to assist other developing countries, particularly the poorest. This shows a greater understanding in terms of collective benefit.
In the end as people participation and interaction improves better ties between countries the forum is trying to bring all social and cultural aspects into one desk that can result a constructive and fruitful outcome.
