Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh), Aug 21 (ANI): Police in the Jagdalpur area of Bastar district in Chhattisgarh are investigating a threat letter received by the authorities of four colleges, allegedly sent by the Maoists, threatening out-station staff to leave the place.
Principals of four different colleges in Maoist-hit Jagdalpur area received the letter by post. Soon after, the college authorities informed the nearby police station.
However, police is yet to ascertain the authenticity of the letter.
J. P Kharey, Principal of Engineering College, confirmed reports of receiving one such letter.
"Yes, we received a letter by post, written with red ink. In that letter, it was written that those outside Chhattisgarh and teaching in colleges out here should immediately leave the place," said Kharey.
Following the threat warning, police stepped up security in all the colleges.
P. Sundar Raj, Inspector General, Bastar, said that security has been tightened at colleges as a precautionary measure.
"We are investigating the matter and once the investigation is over then we will get a clear picture. We are taking the matter seriously and if there is any kind of threat to any public or college staffs, then we will provide them with security. We have already deployed security granted by the district and we are taking every precautionary measures," said Raj.
